Egret & Reed

The unhurried way into mahjong — learn it gently, play with the people you love, and grow into hosting your own table.

Our promise

Every hand you play here
builds a table out there.

Mahjong has always been about the people around the table. Egret & Reed teaches you online, tile by tile, until you're ready to gather friends, family, and neighbours for a game in the same room.

Mahjong was never a screen game. It's four chairs, one table , and the clatter of tiles we're the way back to it.

The path

From your first tile
to your own table

01 — Learn

Taught tile by tile,
at your own pace

Two separate courses, taught with live tiles and diagrams rather than walls of text. Eleven lessons for Hong Kong, nine for American. You learn the game you will sit down to, not a blend of both.

02 — Play

Real hands against
three thoughtful bots

Draw, claim, and call against bots that play a genuine game. A gentle tutor rides alongside when you want it, and disappears the moment you don't.

The phone beside this text is the real game, live. Tap a tile.

03 — Gather

Earn the trust
to host a real table

Your play, your streak and your friends build a presence others can trust — until you're hosting a table near you, in the same warm room mahjong was made for. Invite friends to your table and see each other while you play.

04 — The card

A card of our own,
free every season

American mahjong plays to a card of hands that changes each year. Ours is the Reed Card — eight hands in four moods, tuned for learning the game, and free this season and every season after. Play it online, or print it and deal at your own table.
