This policy explains what Egret & Reed stores in your browser and why. It forms part of our Privacy Policy.
Cookies are small files a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. Local storage and session storage do a similar job: they hold small pieces of information in your browser, but are read only by the site's own code rather than being sent automatically with every request.
For two reasons only: to keep you signed in so you are not asked for your password on every visit, and to remember small preferences so the app opens the way you left it. That is the whole of it.
Egret & Reed sets no cookies of its own. Everything below is browser storage, readable only by this site.
| What | Purpose | Kept |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in token, set by our authentication provider | Keeps you signed in and refreshes your session | Until you sign out |
er-style, er-skill, assistLevel | The game you play, your experience level, and how much help the table gives you | Until cleared |
er-guest-name | The name you gave when joining a table without an account | Until cleared |
er-table-…, er-join | That you opened a particular table, and any invitation you arrived by | Until cleared |
hkMeta, hkChips | The dealer, round and chip counts of a solo Hong Kong game in progress | Until the browser tab is closed |
We set no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, no web beacons, no tracking pixels, and no advertising identifiers. We do not use Google Analytics or any comparable product. We do not track you across other websites, and we have no third-party advertising partners. Nothing here is used to build a profile of you or to target advertising, because we do not advertise.
Loading the site causes your browser to make requests to the providers below. Those requests carry the usual technical information any web request carries, such as your IP address, and none of these providers sets an advertising cookie through us.
Under the ePrivacy rules that apply in the United Kingdom and European Economic Area, consent is required for storage that is not strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for. Everything we store is strictly necessary in that sense: without the sign-in token you could not stay signed in, and without the preferences the app could not open in the state you left it. Because we store nothing for advertising, analytics, or tracking, there is nothing here that requires your consent, which is why we do not interrupt you with a banner asking for it.
You can clear this at any time through your browser's settings for site data. Clearing it signs you out and forgets your preferences; it does not delete your account or your progress, which are held on our servers and described in the Privacy Policy. To delete the account itself, write to us.
Most browsers also allow you to block storage entirely. If you do, the site will still load, but you will not be able to stay signed in between visits.
If we ever introduce storage that is not strictly necessary — analytics, for instance — we will update this policy, and we will ask for your consent before setting it rather than afterwards.
